'Knowledge is Power' yet 'Ignorance is Bliss' - The Irony of Axioms!

The world has evolved over the years as mankind started searching for meaning in everything. He believed that by gaining understanding of the world, he can take control of his fate. Thus knowledge became the power to take control of one's action. In this manner, He believed that He can reduce his sufferings and live with contempt. Thus He discovered theories of forces and energy, applying them to invent simple tools and now He has advanced to a level that He wouldn't have imagined when he started!!

We are now in an era of cognitive dominance where complex machines define the fate of human behaviour and thinking!! Humans begin to value themselves based on their ability to manipulate these machines! It was then the era of physical dominance when the mightier was decided based on their physical strength in the battlefield! But we now have sophisticated machines used in war field to decide who is the best! While on one side we believe this level of knowledge has gained power (by instilling fear upon the others who are supposedly one among us as humans), have we really utilised this power the right way?!

Power has given rise to the four major insecurities in life - money, love, health, dignity!! All conflicts to humans can be categorised into any of these four: fear of not having enough money, fear of not being loved, fear of death or illness, fear of being humiliated! To understand this better, let me put it this way: we live our lives(take every day decisions in life) that ensures constant or improving financial stability, that gain respect in the community which we perceive that we are a part of, take actions to live longer, find and fall in love!

Humans learned to gain knowledge in these domains to face their fears. But over time, they perceived that addressing financial insecurities may solely take care of others - health, love, dignity. While this has become relatively true over the years, Men started prioritising decisions that accumulated more money than anything else. He began to believe that the purpose of knowledge is to make money and other insecurities were fulfilled automatically! He gained more respect in the community as he built his financial status! While He compromised his health in the process, he believed He can compensate later with an health insurance and He felt more assured to find and fall in love! Thus knowledge became money and money became the power to defend all his other fears!

Humans always believed that everything had an answer; meaning everything had a full stop: a closure, an end! He believed that life in itself was a quest and we had to find the answer: it's purpose. So that justified his actions as mentioned above; he evolved apparantly. Just when he believed he had conquered the quest of life, time and now nature keeps challenging us with novel trivia! While we enjoy the luxury of seamless travel that has reduced the time and distance, ability to reach out fellow planets, advanced medical science that postponed death (and so on), yet the since of well-being is far from reach!!! We struggle to find love and peace, we are in a constant state of perceived suffering and pain! Looks like during the journey to answer the quest of life, materials took over morale, greed took over compassion, autonomy took over value!

Now we stand as a community who believe what we acquired as this knowledge is power and one is being ignorant about it is futile! There is no way back to rewrite this as we have come so far that the other truth is way out of sight to believe!! Yes, we started believing in only what we see and hear! We need a bill post purchase to establish trust, we need a lab test report to validate symptoms, we need a verbal expression to assure love! We have forgotten that invisible forces like gravity and air are as abstract as love, respect and trust! So value, compassion and morale are all 'museumed'. The one who practice them is either godly, mad or non-existent!

All this said and done, we still agree to this as our evolved natural version and continue our pursuit towards finding that purpose!! During this endless journey, we stride to take control over things that we fear and manipulate our actions to avoid suffering but nature finds its way to penalize us anyways!! With time, it is becoming evident that power, money or knowledge had failed to answer our true purpose and what remains is that there is no larger purpose in life than to live it with love, compassion, value and morale! Which would have brought more abundance of peace and joy!!

So was 'Ignorance a Bliss'!!!
